Hojjatoleslam Seyed Abdolfattah Navab, the Supreme Leader’s representative for Hajj and Pilgrimage Affairs, met Grand Ayatollah Naser Makarem Shirazi in Qom and presented a report on the outcome of this year’s Hajj season. Navab said the pilgrimage was conducted under exceptional regional and international circumstances, but Iranian pilgrims successfully completed their religious duties. He stated that pilgrims from Iran were received with respect by Muslims from different countries and argued that this positive interaction highlighted the Islamic Republic’s position within the Muslim world. Navab also expressed hope that people who were unable to travel for Hajj this year would have the opportunity to perform the pilgrimage next season. Grand Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi praised the efforts of Hajj officials and stressed the importance of maintaining discipline, calm and avoiding actions that could create tensions or provide grounds for disputes during future pilgrimage seasons.
The official report did not announce new statistics, operational decisions or scheduling changes for the next Hajj season. Its main focus was the performance of the Iranian Hajj mission and appreciation of the officials involved in the operation.
