Iran says nearly 800,000 people are waiting for Hajj

Alireza Rashidian, head of Iran’s Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization, said nearly 800,000 Iranians remain on the national Hajj waiting list despite the departure of around 30,000 pilgrims during the previous Hajj season. He noted that the number of applicants far exceeds Iran’s current quota and confirmed that the organization has formally asked Saudi Arabia’s Ministry of Hajj and Umrah to increase Iran’s allocation for the 1406 Hajj season in an effort to shorten waiting times.
