Head of Hajj and Pilgrimage Medical Centre reports over 86 per cent of 1406 Hajj applicants have undergone medical examinations; 14 per cent yet to attend

The Head of the Hajj and Pilgrimage Medical Centre has urged the remaining 14 per cent of Hajj applicants to complete their mandatory health assessments as soon as possible.

The Head of the Hajj and Pilgrimage Medical Centre, providing an update on the medical examination process for 1406 Hajj applicants, announced that while over 86 per cent of applicants have attended assessments to determine their physical fitness, approximately 14 per cent have yet to do so. Given the necessity of establishing health status prior to travel, he urged these individuals to take action immediately.

According to the Hajj and Pilgrimage information portal, Dr Seyed Ali Marashi, Head of the Hajj and Pilgrimage Medical Centre, stated that notification texts have been sent to the relevant applicants. He noted that the process of evaluating the physical fitness of pilgrims is ongoing and those who have not yet attended must treat the matter with urgency and visit designated physicians to have their medical status determined.

Commenting on the results of the assessments conducted so far, Dr Marashi added that approximately 217 applicants have not received the necessary medical clearance for the Hajj pilgrimage due to a lack of physical fitness. Consequently, determining the health status of applicants during the pre-travel stages is of particular importance, and it is essential that individuals attend their appointments on time and take medical advice regarding their physical condition seriously.

Regarding the health status of those already examined, Dr Marashi noted that a portion of the applicants suffer from cardiovascular issues, while others have diabetes. These statistics highlight the necessity of paying close attention to underlying conditions, monitoring health status, and ensuring physical readiness before departure. He confirmed that the necessary planning for maintaining health, as well as the categorisation system (green, yellow, red), will be implemented just as it was last year.

Emphasising the importance of pre-travel care, the Head of the Hajj and Pilgrimage Medical Centre noted that once pilgrims have selected and registered with a caravan, they must strictly follow the guidelines and recommendations of the Medical Centre. Managing underlying diseases, regular follow-up of treatment, physical activity appropriate to one's physical condition, and gradual preparation for walking are among the measures that can be effective in maintaining pilgrims' health and reducing potential problems during the journey.

In conclusion, while reiterating that medical examinations for the 1406 Hajj are continuing, he called upon those applicants who have not yet attended for a physical fitness assessment to visit their doctors as soon as possible so that the necessary evaluations can be completed before the subsequent stages of the journey.
