Hajj 2024 costs reduced by $320 compared to last year

Hajj 2024 costs reduced by $320 compared to last year

Hamidreza Behrouzifar, speaking at a Hajj pilgrims' seminar in Kashan, stated that while operational savings have reduced Hajj costs by $319, changes in currency exchange rates have led to an overall increase in the final price for pilgrims.

According to the Kashan Hajj and Pilgrimage Department, Hamidreza Behrouzifar addressed questions regarding the costs of the upcoming Hajj pilgrimage while speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a centralised seminar for Hajj pilgrims held on Friday, 3 May 2024.

He stated that for the 2024 Hajj, approximately $319 has been cut from travel costs through savings in various areas. He noted that, in principle, the cost of the journey for pilgrims should have been cheaper and lower compared to the 2023 Hajj; however, the difference in the exchange rate allocated to the Hajj pilgrimage compared to last year's rate has caused an increase in the cost of the 2024 journey.

He added that the exchange rate allocated to the Hajj pilgrimage from the Exchange and Gold Centre in 2023 was a specific amount. Despite the support provided by the government regarding exchange rates for pilgrimage travel, the currency allocated this year was provided at a different rate than last year. He explained that this factor has led to an increase in the final amount pilgrims must pay, even though the Hajj and Pilgrimage Organisation has taken steps to improve the quality of hotels for pilgrims in 2024 and has consistently prioritised the management of Hajj travel costs.
