Hajj and Pilgrimage Organisation to refund 8.5 million rials to 2023 Hajj pilgrims

Hajj and Pilgrimage Organisation to refund 8.5 million rials to 2023 Hajj pilgrims

The Hajj and Pilgrimage Organisation has announced that 85 million rials will be refunded to approximately 82,500 pilgrims from the 2023 Hajj season following cost-management measures.

According to the Hajj and Pilgrimage Organisation, following the diligent efforts of officials, effective cost management, and the final settlement of accounts with service providers across various Hajj sectors, a portion of the funds received will be returned to 2023 Hajj pilgrims. The organisation’s public relations department stated that by adjusting certain processes to manage expenses in transport, catering, logistics, and medical services, as well as reducing the number of support staff—including executive, cultural, and medical personnel—and benefiting from government support in securing foreign currency for aviation and airport services, a surplus from the operational budget was identified.

Consequently, it has been decided that 85 million rials will be refunded to the accounts of 82,500 pilgrims who performed the 2023 Hajj, with the process beginning today and continuing over the next ten days. It is noted that as the savings were achieved in areas other than pilgrim accommodation, the refunded amount is identical for all pilgrims.
