The Vital Role of Journalists in Society

The Vital Role of Journalists in Society

Journalists serve as essential guardians of awareness, contributing to societal growth through their commitment to professional integrity and transparent communication.

The role of journalists as standard-bearers of awareness is undeniable. Through their tireless efforts, they contribute to the growth and flourishing of society by utilising art, skill, judgement, knowledge, ethical commitment, and professional honesty to inform and enlighten public opinion, thereby fostering a healthy environment for transparent and effective communication and facilitating public service. The Supreme Leader also emphasised the importance of this role during a meeting with journalists, stating: 'Without these cameras, pens, and your dedication to preparing and organising news and content, our work would be like something unestablished.'

Journalist Day is a tribute to the efforts of those who, with responsibility, freedom, and the endurance of great hardship, write the truths that yield the growth and development of society. They have always stood as trusted watchdogs of the community across various fields, holding high the banner of freedom, awareness, and hope. The designation of the 17th of Mordad as 'Journalist Day', in addition to commemorating the bravery and chivalry of the martyred journalist Mahmoud Saremi and other esteemed martyrs of the media and news sector, is a day to honour the status of journalists and media professionals.

I congratulate all those who possess the pen and intellect, the information community, supporters of social welfare, and those striving in the fields of social health and well-being on this day, and I wish you success and happiness from the Almighty.
