Dr Seyyed Ali Marashi, head of the Hajj and Pilgrimage Medical Centre, has urged applicants who have not yet undergone medical examinations to do so immediately to confirm their physical fitness for the Hajj.
Dr Seyyed Ali Marashi, head of the Hajj and Pilgrimage Medical Centre, stated that text messages have been sent to relevant applicants inviting them to undergo medical examinations. He noted that the process of assessing the physical fitness of pilgrims is ongoing and urged those who have not yet attended to take the matter seriously and visit their designated physicians as soon as possible to have their medical status determined.
Referring to the results of the assessments conducted so far, Dr Marashi added that approximately 217 applicants have not received the necessary medical clearance to perform the Hajj due to a lack of physical fitness. Consequently, determining the health status of applicants in the pre-travel stages is of particular importance, and it is essential that individuals attend their appointments promptly and take medical advice regarding their physical condition seriously.
Commenting on the health status of those already examined, Dr Marashi said that, according to current statistics, a portion of the applicants suffer from cardiovascular issues, while others have diabetes. These figures highlight the necessity of paying close attention to underlying conditions, monitoring health status, and ensuring physical readiness before departure. He noted that the necessary planning for health maintenance and the categorisation system (green, yellow, red) will be implemented just as it was last year.
Emphasising the importance of pre-travel care, the head of the Hajj and Pilgrimage Medical Centre noted that once pilgrims have been selected and registered with a caravan, they must strictly follow the guidelines and recommendations of the Hajj and Pilgrimage Medical Centre. Managing underlying conditions, consistent follow-up of treatments, physical activity appropriate to one's physical condition, and gradual preparation for walking are among the measures that can be effective in maintaining the health of pilgrims and reducing potential problems during the journey.
In conclusion, while stressing that medical examinations for the 1406 Hajj Tamattu are continuing, he urged applicants who have not yet presented themselves for a physical fitness assessment to visit their physicians as soon as possible so that the necessary evaluations can be completed before the next stages of the journey.
