Road Maintenance and Transport Department holds meeting with Hajj and Pilgrimage officials regarding restrictions on unauthorised Atabat pilgrimage convoys

Officials have met to address concerns regarding the impact of unauthorised pilgrimage convoys and to discuss measures to restrict their operations.
According to the Public Relations office of the Gilan Hajj and Pilgrimage Organisation, a joint meeting was held between the General Directorate of Road Maintenance and Transport, the Hajj and Pilgrimage management, the provincial transport trade association and companies, and the provincial traffic police, following concerns raised regarding the activities of unauthorised convoys and their negative impact on pilgrimage travel.
During the meeting, the issues and challenges posed by unauthorised convoys to Atabat pilgrims and authorised Hajj and Pilgrimage convoys were examined. Officials emphasised the necessity of restricting and preventing the movement of unauthorised convoys at the province's entry and exit points, as well as establishing appropriate legal and regulatory frameworks.
Furthermore, strategies were considered to strengthen authorised convoys and ensure the security, comfort, and satisfaction of pilgrims. Based on these decisions, necessary measures to reduce the activity of unauthorised convoys and formalise pilgrimage travel will be implemented in the near future.
The ultimate goal of this meeting was stated to be the improvement of service standards and the security of pilgrimage travel, the protection of the dignity and status of pilgrims visiting holy sites, and the prevention of any illegal activities within the relevant inter-sectoral areas, particularly regarding the transportation of pilgrims.
