Unannounced inspection of the Bashmaq border crossing

The Director of the Hajj and Pilgrimage Organisation for Kurdistan Province conducted an unannounced visit to the Bashmaq international border to assess service provision and coordination.

According to the public relations office of the Hajj and Pilgrimage Organisation of Kurdistan Province, Sajjad Rahmani, the Director of the organisation, visited Marivan on Thursday, 8 October 2026. During an unannounced inspection of the Bashmaq international border, he reviewed the current service processes and conditions, and held discussions with officials and representatives from various border departments.

During the visit, the Director met with Mr Yousefi, the official in charge of the Bashmaq customs and border terminal; Mr Ganji, the official in charge of the Bashmaq international border passport office; and Mr Movali, the commander of the Bashmaq border regiment. They discussed enhancing coordination, interaction, and cooperation between the agencies stationed at the border and the provincial Hajj and Pilgrimage office.

These meetings emphasised the necessity of synergy and coordination among the executive, law enforcement, and service agencies stationed at the Bashmaq border. The objective is to ensure appropriate planning and effective cooperation to provide efficient and high-quality services to the pilgrims of Imam Hussein (AS).

Expressing his appreciation for the efforts and cooperation of the Bashmaq border officials, Rahmani described serving the Arbaeen pilgrims as a valuable privilege. He stated that facilitating transit, respecting pilgrims, and providing services worthy of the pilgrims of Imam Hussein (AS) requires the interaction and cooperation of all relevant agencies, and that the Hajj and Pilgrimage Organisation of Kurdistan Province would spare no effort in this endeavour.

At the conclusion of the visit, it was agreed that close interaction and communication between the Kurdistan Hajj and Pilgrimage office and the Bashmaq border officials would continue, with the aim of improving the quality of services and resolving any potential issues or challenges faced by pilgrims.
